4 Reasons To Buy Travel Insurance

Emergency

All of us have seen the small box at the end of a travel purchase that asks, “Would you like to add travel insurance?”  So many of us are quick to dismiss this as simply another advertisement being shoved in our face and politely decline.  What many people don’t know, however, is that travel insurance covers a lot more than you think.

There are so many things that can possibly go wrong when traveling.  We are out of our comfort zones, away from our homes and routines, and since we are living out of a bag we are susceptible to losing things or being robbed.

Travel insurance is in fact very beneficial and should most definitely be considered when traveling, particularly out of the country.

Still not convinced? Take a look at the most commonly unfortunate things that happen to people while traveling, which travel insurance could easily have solved.

Medical Emergencies

You never know when a medical emergency can spontaneously creep up on you.  That’s why they’re called emergencies.  We simply didn’t see them coming.  Perhaps an old injury flares up, or in more extreme cases, perhaps you have to get surgery.

Don’t roll the dice and put yourself in a position where you may have to pay hundreds of thousands on your vacation.

Cancelled Trips

A canceled trip can happen for a variety of reasons.  Maybe work suddenly fell behind and you simply can’t get away from the office. Perhaps someone in your family is suffering an illness and you can’t leave their side.

One of the most common reasons for people canceling their travel is a scheduling conflict that they forgot at the time of their booking.  Whatever the reason is, airlines don’t care.  If you cancel a booking, it doesn’t matter what the case, unless you purchased flexible fare, you’re going to have to buy a new ticket.

Eliminate the cost of an entirely new airfare by opting for travel insurance instead.

When you get to your destination no one expects anything other than the normal drill.   You get out of the plane, look at the screen to locate your luggage carousel, make your way there, and wait around until your bag comes sliding down the conveyor belt.

No one is ever prepared to be the last man standing, wondering where their bag is while everyone else has already caught cabs.

The panic sets in as you start to remember all of the valuables you had inside. The tickets to your next destination.  Those brand new designer shorts.  How about your fancy new Bluetooth speakers that you had visions of blaring on the beach during a full blown bonfire party?

Your travel insurance will replace the cost of the loss and alleviate some of the stress associated with lost luggage.
